Geo-Visualization with Virtual Globes

Virtual Globes such as Google Earth and NASA World Wind represent an incredibly engaging way for scientists to communicate their ideas. Ever since these tools first appeared the Earth Science community has been busy leveraging their ability to place data in geographical context, mashing data sets together, creating time-lapse animations and producing 3D representations Read More.

As in previous years (AGU 2006, AGU 2007 and AGU 2008) interactive demonstrations will replace the traditional poster sessions (Read More). In addition to these sessions, there will also be oral presentations. These talks will be broadcast via live webcasts, similar to the 2008 keynote address by Michael T. Jones. A full schedule of this year's Virtual Globes talks and demonstrations will be available on here in mid-October.

Call for Presentations

This year's Virtual Globes at AGU session is now seeking presentations from scientists, educators, developers and data providers interested in using Virtual Globes to interpret data, provide educational resources and further public understanding of science. We also welcome contributions from those using 2D geobrowsers, such as web-based maps, for geo-visualization. Follow this link to submit an abstract. The deadline for submission is 3rd Sept 2009.
